Aniseed has a distinctive liquorice taste. They are the seeds from the anise plant, and they may easily be confused with seeds from fennel, dill and caraway. Anise has a sweet smell and is used as a flavour enhancer. It is also used for the production of candy and aperitifs such as Pernod.
