Yeast flakes is used by vegans to replace cheese in dishes. Use yeast flakes to add spice and flavour to your cooking.
- Inactive yeast flakes
- Can be used as a substitute for cheese flavor in dishes
Recommended use:. Use as a substitute for cheese in dishes that require cheese flavour. Store in a cool, dark place.
These small flakes of inactive yeast may be used as a spice and flavouring agent in sauces, bread, porridge, pies, tofu marinades etc. The cheese-like flavour of the flakes makes them excellent for dishes that require cheese, e.g., a delicious cheese sauce for pizzas, pastas, lasagna and pies. Yeast flakes are often called "vegan cheese flavour".
Yeast flakes consist of dried, inactivated baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) from sugar beet molasses. Flakes have a high protein content.
