Bancha is an organic Japanese tea made from selected tea leaves, collected at the end of the season when the theine content is low (1.3 %).
Recommended use:. 1 tsp for 3 cups of boiling water. Let brew for 2-3 minutes. May also be served as a cold refreshment on a hot summer's day.
Light-roasted green tea from Japan. Bancha is the preferred tea of most Japanese. The leaves are collected while they are still large and juicy. Steam treatment will slow down the oxidation of the leaves to preserve their green colour. When roasted lightly, the leaves get their characteristic taste - and the theine content is significantly reduced (to only 1.3 %).
