Nutmeg is a sweet spice with a strong and spicy taste. When you grate nutmeg seeds, a delicious aroma will fill your kitchen.
Nutmeg is a regular ingredient in béchamel sauce for, e.g., lasagna or stews, and it goes well with potato and spinat dishes, pumpkin, salmon, eggs and cheese.
The nutmeg tree is native to the Maluku Islands ("Spice Islands") and will grow to 12 metres. Female trees reach full production after 15-20 years.
Nutmeg is available as whole seeds and as powder.
