Lima Salt comes from the 'Ria Formosa' natural park in the coastal region of Olhão in Portugal. The salt is harvested in the traditional way - without the use of any machinery. This means that only sea water, sun, wind and human effort is used for production. The harvested salt is not refined and does not contain any kind of bleech, anti-caking agents or desiccants (iron cyanide, tricalcium phosphate, aluminium calcium silicate).
The rich flavour of natural sea salt outshines the sterile taste of table salt. Unrefined and yet white - is that really possible? During the harvest, care is taken to preserve a thin layer of salt at the bottom of the salt marsh to ensure a natural barrier between the soil and the salt that is ready to be harvested. In this way, Lima Havsalt keeps its sparkling white colour.
