Greater burdock may grow to 2 m tall and has large heart-shaped leaves and small violet flowers - which most of us are familiar with as the hooks on the round flower heads make them stick to your clothes or the fur of your dog after a walk in thickets and forests.

Roots may grow to 1 metre. In the Middle Ages, greater burdock was cultivated all over Europe, and roots were used as a vegetable. Nowadays, roots are seldom used for cooking - except in Italy, Portugal, Brazil and Japan where it is called gobo. Its taste resembles that of artichoke.

Traditionally, the root was used in Great Britain as an herbal tea aroma with dandelion - a tea blend that is still on the market.

Also available in a 100 g bag.
